How Entrepreneurs Can Keep Positive Mindsets In A Negative Economy

We hear all sorts of negative occurrences everyday- and so staying positive in a world of negativity is important. Finding positivity can be a challenge but you can create a world of possibility through a healthy mindset.

The manner in which companies have gone bankrupt and failed in the last years has been a source of major concern to people and more so you. Being focused in what you do and being optimistic will solve the puzzle.

Here are some strategies to you could use right away to build a positive mindset and attitude in a negative economy;

1. Be Focused

Being focused despite all odds will energize you. Never lose focus of why you are in business

Allowing the negative news that flies around the social media and tabloids will end up instilling the fear that you might fold up soon. If possible, stop or reduce the way you read the tabloids and go on the internet.

When you censor what you listen to, you reduce the risk of being apprehensive of failing.

Imagine this: A man was driving to his country home. About 800 kilometers on his way home, he noticed the fuel gauge was in red.

He got so apprehensive because he was in the middle of nowhere. The more he saw it blink, the more tense he became.

A voice told him to cover the guage with something, so he covered it with a cloth and this reduced his tension. Guess what happened? The fuel was enough to take him home.

What miracle happened you ask? He focused on getting home rather than the distraction of the fuel that was what happened.

2. Stay Optimistic

The last time I checked, optimism was still one of the backbones of any business. Companies who have weathered the the storm of the global meltdown know that staying optimistic always help to stay afloat their games.

It will help fight the fears you have in any area in life. Use it and see its potency.

3. Double the Tempo

Never be redundant. Strive to always get better. Whatever strategy you used in time past that brought you thus far should be doubled. Doubling up will make you and your team ahead every time. Also it will allay the fear of your company fizzling out of the scene.

Another important thing to remember is that you are not the only one involved in your business. Engage your team and assistants as well. Encourage them to always get better and reward them when they show such efforts. Always carry them along. Afterall, without them, you won’t be as big as you are now.

4. Never Listen to Negativity

Never pay attention to that inner voice that says ‘oh, my business might go into oblivion’, ‘oh I do not have what it takes to succeed’. The moment you give ears to such thoughts, the faster you see yourself plummeting.

In other words; the moment you entertain these kind of thoughts, the moment failure starts.

5. Motivate Yourself

You can help yourself wriggle out of a negative mindset by motivating yourself. Encourage yourself by reading and associating yourself with companies that are thriving.

Again, motivate your employees as well. They’re humans and so need that same cup of motivation you drink every morning.

Remember the saying that goes ‘show me your friend and I will tell you who you are’? Yes, you can imbibe that now. The more you know what makes them succeed, the more likely you are to succeed too.

    Hi Valentine,

    Great blog you have here!

I really like this post and all the awesome tips you give.

Staying fucused was something I used to struggle with as I believe I had a pretty good case of “shiny object syndrome”. Now that I’m a bit more experienced, I’ve learned to tune that all out and it has had a great effect on my mindset because I’m focusing on what really matters now. And more relevant to your post, it can be very discouraging to deal with all the negativity about network marketing. I’ve learned that there will always be people who like it and people who don’t and to live abundantly. There will ALWAYS be more people to talk with. I LOVE the fuel example you gave, good stuff!

I think striving to always do better and encouraging your team to do the same is so important. That not only boosts everyone’s self esteem and keeps negativity at bay, but when you provide rewards, it will keep the focus and the productivity up so everyone wins.

I’m a firm believer in manifesting good into your life with positive affirmations and putting goals and dreams down on paper. This has helped me with the negative thoughts that sometimes creep in. I put the positive affirmations somewhere I will see them all the time and it seems to have made a big difference in drowning out negativity.

The best way to get yourself out of a slump is to TAKE ACTION. You gave some very helpful advice with reading and associating yourself with thriving companies. I agree completely! The company we keep is a big deal when it comes to mindset so it’s best to hang around with people who will be encouraging and those who have had the success you’d like to achieve.

Thank you for the information in this post, Valentine. It’s very helpful!

      Hi Jess,
As an entrepreneur, you have a lot on your plate. Staying focused can be tough with a constant stream of employees, clients, emails, and phone calls demanding your attention. Amid the noise, understanding your brain’s limitations and working around them can improve your focus and increase your productivity.

The brain is a social organ, and our relationships with one another are not a luxury but an essential nutrient for our survival.

What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.

Thanks so much for leaving this valuable comment here, Hope to see more of you here :)

    Hi Valentine,

Great insights! Not only have we to be positive, we need to stay away from negativity as well. In Network Marketing in particular, there is stigma because too many people started the wrong way and got ‘burnt’.

One great trainer Jerry ‘DRhino” Clark advocates a 30-day ‘Mental Fast’. This means that we have to stay away from the TV and others news (which is predominantly negative) for a 30-day period. Some teams use this as a way to cleanse the ‘Can’t do’ thoughts!

Keep up the great work, Valentine!

As you usual this is Cudjoe and I can’t simply leave here without sharing my thoughts on this thought provoking post.
One must also neglect what naysayers will say about their business since everything one does in this world, he will get someone to tell him why it’s never going to work out.
