6 Management Tips to Help Entrepreneurs Double Their Productivity


Productivity is the secret code for next level business success. The more tasks you can accomplish successfully with a short time span, the faster you’ll achieve success.

Great productivity is one of the qualities of highly effective and successful people.

Productivity isn’t about being busy; it’s about getting tasks done completely and successfully, and getting the expected results from them.

Are you spending more time on your tasks but achieving less? That signals low productivity, and is a very common problem among entrepreneurs.

Here are six business management tips that will help you double your productivity:

1. Prioritize

Certain tasks supersede others in importance and urgency. You should always identify these tasks and handle them first.

For example, checking your business bills and mulling over how to clear them is much less important than treating client requests and complaints. So, if you waste a lot of time on the former, you won’t be able to handle the latter because you’re depleted already.

So, handle the most important tasks when you’re still very active and beaming with energy.

2. Ditch all distractions

Did you know that most of the things you think are making your work easier are in fact distractions? Like your smart phone, PC, internet connection, etc.

If you don’t agree, then consider these:

  • After receiving a call, you’ll fiddle with your phone for several minutes, either just starring at the screen or scrolling down your list of contacts for no reason. Right?
  • After reading an important email, instead of closing your browser and get back to work, you feel like checking your personal Facebook or Twitter account, don’t you?

Instead of giving in to these distractions, always avoid them – for example, by switching off your smart phone when you don’t need it.

3. Avoid procrastination

Procrastination is that strong urge to delay your assignment until a later time. It ruins. Always fight it off whenever it comes unto you.

4. Handle easier or more difficult tasks first

These two tactics work, depending on the individual. If you do better by handling simple tasks before difficult ones, arrange your tasks in the order of simple to complex (but only if they’re equally important). If you think the other way round works for you, do it that way instead.

5. Delegate tasks

Success isn’t guaranteed by the number of tasks you can handle all by yourself. So, avoid “killing” yourself with multiple tasks.

If you have a team, the ideal is to assign some tasks to team members that you think are capable of handling them perfectly. That way, you’ll achieve more within less time.

If you don’t have a team, outsourcing might be a good idea.

6. Always time yourself

This may sound unnecessary, but it works – magically. After listing all the tasks due for the day, assign duration to each. Be realistic, though. (You won’t read 100 client emails in 10 minutes!)

Allocating a time span to each task motivates you to work with time and do things faster.

Productivity is what differentiates an excellent entrepreneur from a mediocre one. So, if excellence is your watchword (which I’m sure is the case), increase your productivity by following these tips, and speed up your way to success.
